The Story Behind the Sound

Theron Feemster has spent his life inside sound. Known to the music world as Neff-U, he is a Grammy Award-winning producer, songwriter, composer, and tech inventor whose fingerprints are on some of the most iconic moments in modern music — Eminem, Michael Jackson, Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, Halle Bailey, Sia, Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z, and Ne-Yo. He directed music videos. He composed for Apple, Netflix, Disney, and Fox. He wrote the Men in Black II theme song as a college student at Berklee.

The music industry has a silent epidemic. Constant exposure to loud sound — studios, concert monitors, headphones, years of live performance — damages the ears of the very people who create music. Producers. Engineers. Performers. People whose entire identity is built around sound, suddenly unable to escape a phantom sound inside their own heads that no one else can hear. He watched the anxiety, the isolation, the depression. He knew people who could not take it anymore.

The mission
Music can make people cry. Music can make people dance. Music can make people laugh. Now let it heal. — Theron Feemster (Neff-U), CEO & Co-Founder, Neuromonics
